on Rapid River

We'd like to introduce you to some of the most important tools in our toolbox.

Linux

At Rapid River, we are huge fans of the OS that gave birth to the modern web. From shell scripting to volume management to network configuration and tuning, Rapid Riverers know and love Linux inside and out. We're comfortable with building and managing environments ranging from one or two t1.micro instances all the way up to hundreds of beefy Dell rack-mounted servers.

CI/CD

Behind every great website are great tests and great deployment infrastructure. We work with our clients not only to build features but also to protect the stability of those features with unit and integration tests. Then we tie those tests into sophisticated CI/CD pipelines to automate the testing, building, and deployment of code all the way from development to testing to production.

Docker/Kubernetes

"You've come a long way, baby" said a commercial from the 1970's. It's an odd pitch for selling cigarettes, but it sure does apply to containerization on Linux. Rapid Riverers are very enthusiastic users of Docker as well as Kubernetes cluster orchestration - in both development and production environments. All Rapid River developers study and follow best practices for Dockerfile authoring, image management, deployment orchestration, and monitoring.

AWS

At Rapid River, we've been using Amazon Web Services (AWS) since not long after its introduction as a message-queue-as-a-service back in 2006. Today AWS' offerings have grown to include just about everything one could want or imagine, and we've stayed on top of nearly all of it. When it comes to AWS environments, we are comfortable analyzing the costs and benefits of AWS-based solutions to recommend a "right-sized" approach that balances features with development and maintenance cost.

Other technologies

Working on the web means staying on top of a constantly-shifting landscape of languages, frameworks, and technologies. No one can master them all, but at Rapid River we've got quite a few covered. Here are some of our favorite and most- loved technologies that we enjoying working with.
